What’s New in the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

September 25th, 2020 by

At Gerry Lane Chevrolet, we know that the Chevy Silverado 1500 has been a favorite amongst our Baton Rouge shoppers for years. With the release of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we’re excited to share all of the Silverado features that have been added for the new model year!

Multi-Flex Tailgate & Improved Bed Functionality

One of the most exciting updates to the new Chevy Silverado 1500 is the addition of a new Multi-Flex Tailgate. The new Multi-Flex tailgate will be an available option on all 2021 Silverado 1500 trim levels, and it provides six different functions to suit many types of jobs. With the Multi-Flex tailgate, you’ll have easier access to the cargo bed, enhanced loading solutions, and even a standing workstation. When you combine this new feature with the standard Chevrolet Silverado Durabed, the 2021 Silverado 1500 is the most capable Chevy Silverado ever!

Enhanced Trailering Technology

Chevy strives to make trailering as easy as possible, and you will find proof of that in the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. The Silverado 1500 already offers up to 15 unique camera views – more than any competitor. To make this even better, Chevrolet has added three additional features to the camera to provide an enhanced trailering experience: a trailer length indicator, a jack-knife alert, and a new cargo bed view. In addition, the available rear trailer view now has assisting guidelines, and the split-view camera has been added for driving in reverse.

Improvement in Trailering Capabilities

The 2021 1500 Chevrolet Silverado features increased trailering capacity to two of its most efficient engines – the 2.7L Turbo and the 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel. With the 2.7L Turbo, you’ll find that thousands of pounds of trailer capacity have been added to each configuration. For example, the popular Crew Cab Short Box model now has a max of 9,300 pounds in two-wheel drive, a 2,500-pound increase. With the 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel, you’ll find an additional 1,900 pounds of trailering capacity to nearly every configuration.

Additions to Standard Equipment

You’ll find more standard and available equipment across the Chevy Silverado truck lineup, including the following:

  • Custom and Custom Trail Boss – Now come standard with the Custom Convenience Package and Infotainment Package, which include features such as EZ Lift power lock and release tailgate, remote start, and bed LED cargo area lighting.
